How to buy SIM card in Nepal in 2019 ? Easy 2 steps

Are you a foreigner travelling to Nepal and want to buy the Nepalese working sim card or are you a Nepalese and want the same. Then, this post will help to both of you to get your own Nepalese working sim card. Keep in mind that, there are only 3 working operators and among them Nepal Telecom and Ncell are the major ones. Follow this 2 steps to get your own sim.

A. For Foreigner:

If you are planning to come in Nepal or you are already at Nepal and worried about how to buy the Nepalese sim card. Then, just follow this 2 simple and easy steps and get your own working sim card.

1. Passport size photograph:

In order to get sim card in Nepal, you must have at least 2 passport size photograph. These two photograph is attached to the application form and the form is submitted to the telecom operator office. Make sure you have recent(not older than 6 months) photograph.

2. Valid Visa photocopy:

Last and most important thing that you need, is your own passport with valid visa. Make sure you have a valid visa before filling the application form because without valid visa, telecom operators won’t issue a sim card registered to you. Moreover, illegal use of SIM card is strictly prohibited in Nepal.

After having this two things ready,you need to visit nearby stationary or mobile shop or telecom office or their outlets. Then they will do necessary work and charge you the standard fee. After submitting documents and paying fee, the sim card is activated instantly. Then you have your own sim number

B. For Nepalese:

If you are Nepalese and currently living in Nepal and don’t know how to buy the working SIM card then follow this two simple and easy steps to get your own prepaid/postpaid sim card.

1. Documentation Card:

At first, you must have either citizenship card, driving license, voter card or any other governmental issued document. Having anyone of the above will work and help to get your sim card.

2. Passport Size Photograph:

In order to get sim card in Nepal, you must have at least 2 passport size photograph. These two photograph is attached to the application form and the form is submitted to the telecom operator office. Make sure you have recent(not older than 6 months) photograph.

After having these two things ready, visit the nearby local agent or outlets or customer center to get the working sim.
