NTA start feasibility study of Internet Connectivity to Submarine Cable from Nepal

Nepal telecommunication Authority, NTA have started the feasibility study of internet connectivity from Nepal via submarine cable. For this, NTA have shortlisted the consultant.

NTA have begun this research in-order to utilize and transmit the full bandwidth of data. The NTA have initialize to build and will operate Information Superhighway through Mid-Hill Highway connecting every District Head Quarter through high capacity optical fiber network. This project have been funded from RTDF (Rural Telecommunication Development Fund). For using Information Superhighway, NTA plan to associate web network from Nepal to submarine link.

In 16th May 2019, NTA have opened a notice for Invitation for Expression (EOI) for “Consulting Service to study for identification of Reliable and Cost Effective Alternate solution to Make Accessibility of internet connectivity to submarine cable from Nepal” on Himalayan Times, Rising Nepal and Gorkhapatra. The deadline for submission was 30th June 2019.
