Internet Uses in Nepal: YouTube and Porn in top

With high speed internet penetration in almost 67% of Nepali homes, the trend of internet uses have been seen in remarkable changes. The international bandwidth have been tripled in the last 2 years.

Ncell, the leading telecom operator of Nepal have recently published the internet uses statistics in Nepal. According to it, Ncell themselves have been importing 400Gb of internet bandwidth from India per second. This is only the international bandwidth as they have been deploying the cache server in nepal to reduce international bandwidth. They suspect, this trend will likely to increase as the demand for data is increasing exponentially.

According to it, 45% of its total mobile data is being used in watching the videos. Out of it, 29.23% is used in watching the videos in YouTube while 13.78% is used in surfing https sites.

In third, 11.79% of the mobile data is consumed in watching the content from unknown source. Unknown source are typically untraceable and are used using VPN. This unknown source suspect that this might be a porn videos or the adult content as NTA have blocked the porn related websites in nepal.

The facebook video list in top 4 with 10.13% contribution in mobile traffic. In addition, social sites including facebook, messenger, tik tok, whatsapp, viber, instragram, etc makes the rest.
